Vietnamese port volume up 18pc to 16.8 million TEU in 8 months

THE volume of goods passing through Vietnam's ports in the first eight months of 2021 increased 18 per cent year on year to 16.8 million TEU, said the Vietnam Maritime Administration.

Exports made up 5.4 million TEU, up 16 per cent, and imports 5.5 million TEU. At 3.2 million TEU, the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port Cluster in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province accounted for two thirds of the imports and exports in the south and 100 per cent of shipments to and from the US, reported Cambodia's Phenom Penh Post.

Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Terminal director-general Nguyen Xuan Ky said that thanks to the strict implementation of prevention and control measures, some Covid cases were detected in time and immediately isolated.
