PORTMIAMI has posted a record fiscal year 2021 with throughput up 17.6 per cent to 1.25 million TEU making calendar 2021 the busiest in history.
The terminal has kept critical cargo movement flowing even with ongoing supply chain disruptions and the Covid-19 pandemic, reports Colchester's Seatrade Maritime News.
Port officials attribute the smooth cargo operations in the fiscal year 2021 (from 1 October 2020 to 30 September 2021) to strong partnerships and collaboration with the business community.
"PortMiami's cargo performance is a reflection of our community's resilience and the critical role played by our seaport," said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
"Miami-Dade County is a major global hub for commerce and strengthening cargo activity will help us rebuild a stronger, more resilient economy," added the mayor.
