CHINA is expected to import 39 per cent less pork while Hong Kong is to cut imports by 21 per cent, with the global pork exports set to plunge, reports Bloomberg News.
China is the world's biggest importer of pork, and the decrease is a negative outlook for farmers in the rest of the world.
""The sharp plunge in China demand leaves major exporters such as the EU, Brazil, and US searching for markets to offset diminished trade,"" said the US Department of Agriculture.
The shifting trade could lead to lower consumer prices in relief from the worst food inflation in decades.
