Cosco Shipping launches new Wuhan-Xiamen intermodal train
Date:2022-07-21 Readers:
CHINA's Cosco Shippping has launched a new sea-rail intermodal train to deal with container and shipping service availability challenges, reports London's Port Technology.

The first Cosco Shipping Wuhan-Xiamen sea-rail intermodal train was loaded with a total of 40 TEU of cargo and departed from Wuhan Wujiashan Station on June 26. It arrived at Xiamen Qianchang Station four days later before reaching the port on the same day.

The new route is set to offer relief and aid for export of goods from inland regions by relying on their route network advantages and robust transportation resources.

Xiamen seaport is located on the only eastbound trade corridor in Wuhan and, according to the company, and it has been heavily affected by the pandemic and suffered from congestion.

Several groups under Cosco Shipping - Lines Wuhan, Xiamen and CSP Xiamen Ocean Gate Container Terminal - have come together to create the Wuhan-Xiamen sea-rail intermodal transport service to meet customer demand and establish new channels for the export of goods from inland regions.

Cosco Shipping said this new service will open a new channel for goods from inland China to reach the international market via a two-way interaction of "Silk Road Shipping - Yangtze River Economic Belt".

The company also launched the Nanchang-Qinzhou-Vietnam and Guiyang-Qinzhou dedicated trains for domestic and foreign trade.

The "Nanchang-Qinzhou-Vietnam" dedicated train - jointly launched by Cosco Shipping and JMC - departed from Nanchang International Land Port on June 13 and arrived at Qinzhou Port on June 16.
