THE Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has appointed DHL Express as its logistics partner for the city's leading fashion show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre this week from January 16-19.
The cross-border express service provider will provide door-to-door transportation for all show outfits and accessories of the participating international designers, importing them from destinations such as Shanghai, Paris and London to the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza 2012. It will then re-export them back to its origin after the show taking responsibility for all necessary documentation and customs clearance.
Fashion relies on the critical factors of speed, accuracy and reliability which is why HKTDC chose DHL Express, for our experience and ability in delivering prompt and comprehensive logistics solutions, said DHL Express HK managing director Ken Lee in a company statement.
Said HKTDC deputy director Benjamin Chau: "The logistical arrangements behind this dazzling show are one of the key components to the event's success. We are very pleased to have DHL providing logistics support to enhance Hong Kong's status as Asia's trend-setting hub."
Some 1,900 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions will take part in the HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter, and HKTDC World Boutique, Hong Kong. World Boutique, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, will include the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza.
Hong Kong exports of clothing and related accessories were worth US$22.4 billion in the first 11 months of 2011, up two per cent over the same period in 2010. Major destinations for the exports included the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and mainland China.
