On September 13, 2010, as organized by Anhui Provincial Communications Department, the “Anhui Provincial Water Transport Development Summit” was held in Wuhu City. Deputy Minister Xu Zuyuan of the Ministry of Transport and Vice Governor Huang Haisong of Anhui Province attended and addressed the summit. The convening of the summit aimed to forge a robust shipping industry in Anhui, by implementing the major strategic policy of the Central Government on “Strengthening the construction of China’s inland shipping, and promoting the rapid, coordinated, safe and green development of inland shipping”, and the “Planning on industrial transposition demonstrative zone in city belts along the Yangtze River in Anhui” approved by the Stated Council.

Professor Jin Yongxing, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University, and Professor Zhen Hong, Secretary-General of Shanghai International Shipping Institute, attended the summit. They delivered keynote speeches entitled “Strengthening the cooperation among ports along the Yangtze River in Anhui, and undertaking the downstream industrial transposition” and “Developing port logistics based on supply chain, and enhancing the quality of logistics services of ports along the Yangtze River in Anhui”, respectively.
