Commissioned by Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and operated by Shanghai Maritime University, SISI has recently completed the decoration of its main building and began operation on January 5, 2009. Before that, SISI had already carried out a number of academic activities.
1. SISI addressed the “2nd China International Logistics Conference”.
2. SISI organized the "2009 Forum on Outlook of the Economy, Trade and Shipping Markets" jointly with www.chinashippinginfo.net.
3. SISI invited Steve Hawks, Professor of the Transportation Safety Institute of the U.S. Department of Transportation, to attend the academic exchange activity of "International Regulation of Dangerous Goods" in Shanghai Maritime University.
4. SISI and the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) reached a preliminary intention on cooperative training programs on "Transport Safety" and "Logistics".
5. SISI completed three analysis reports on the shipping markets, focusing respectively on the 2008 review and 2009 outlook of Chinese coastal dry bulk shipping market, international dry bulk shipping market, and international container liner shipping on three trunk routes.
6. SISI participated in the "2009 China Logistics Development Symposium & 17th Chinese Logistics Expert Forum" and delivered a report titled "2008 Review and 2009 Outlook on the Development of Water Transportation".
7. SISI undertook the "Qingdao Cruise Economy Planning" project commissioned by Qingdao Municipal Tourism Administration.
