COSCO and "K" Line have introduced an extra slow steaming policy on two transpacific loops that connect China to US west coast ports.
Alphaliner said Cosco has slowed down its SEA service, while "K" Line has slowed down its joint Calco-B loop. Wan Hai Lines participates in both loops as a vessel provider.
Both loops now turn in six weeks instead of five, with an extra ship added on each loop to maintain schedule integrity. This also allows Cosco and "K" Line to use ships that would otherwise have been left idle.
The 9,469-TEU Cosco Ellas has joined the SEA service that deploys five 8,200- to 8,500-TEU ships.Meanwhile, the 4,800-TEU Victoria Bridge has joined the Calco-B service that uses five ships, ranging in size from 4,200-4,500 TEU.
