THE new Busan headquarters building of the Korean Register is the venue of the 5th Seoul International Maritime and Shipbuilding Conference (SIMS) that is being held from November 15-16.

A statement from the organisers said that SIMS has grown into the industry's premier gathering for shipowners and shipbuilders to meet and discuss pressing issues of the day. This year's conference will focus on "Mapping smart strategies for the future."

 Guest speakers represent a range of sectors and are debating topics such as where the industry is headed and how to protect the planet. The experts are also investigating the opportunities presented by the offshore sector and have been discussing the essential maritime services of law and insurance. In addition, a special seminar is being held to focus on the Ship's Energy Efficiency Management Plan (SEEMP).
