CCNI has placed an order for a fifth 9,300 TEU ship to be built by the Hanjin Heavy Industries shipyard in Subic Bay in the Philippines.
The ship will cost KRW86.7 billion (US$81.6 million) and it will be deployed, along with its sister ships, in the South America trade.
These ships are ordered through CCNI's majority shareholder, Grupo Empresas Navieras (GEN), and German owner NSC Schiffahrt is also involved, reports Alphaliner.
The first two ships were ordered in November 2012, and orders for a third and fourth were received a few weeks later. Delivery is slated to begin in mid-2014, with the fifth ship due in May 2015.
These vessels will be the largest ships operated by CCNI, which currently operates 15 ships with a total capacity of 44,170 TEU, according to Alphaliner records.
