A NEW Shanghai automated logistics centre opens in Shanghai's Songjiang District in July and will provide e-commerce the largest daily order processing capacity in Asia.

The first phase of the facility can process 200,000 orders per day. Daily handling volume of one single product can be as many as 1.2 million pieces. When the second phase is completed, daily order processing volume will be raised to 800,000.

China's e-commerce industry is rising rapidly during recent years and bringing an explosive surge in express parcel volume and exposed the courier industry to series of problems including capacity shortages and low efficiency.

The facility is said to be able to provide efficient warehousing and distribution services for both e-commerce companies and traditional retailers.
