DAMCO has opened a new commercial office in Wuxi, east China, to serve companies in the region that produce high-tech products, automotive and medical equipment, precision machinery, retail and fashion goods.

The Shanghai customer service office will provide support to the new office.

Chief executive officer for North Asia, Henriette Hallberg Thygesen said, "A lot of local companies are taking off, and they need a truly experienced and reliable logistics partner with a strong network to go-global.

"Wuxi is one of the major manufacturing and industrial base on Mainland China, the strategic location of Damco Wuxi enables us to support the development of our customers."

The company also upgraded its Suzhou and Hangzhou offices after opening the Dongguan office in South China in November 2013.

East China cluster manager Narin Phol said, "Since the upgrade of Damco Suzhou and Hangzhou into commercial offices in January, Suzhou office achieved 100 per cent staffing and on board a dozen new customers."

This year the global logistics provider said in a statement that it has plans for eight new commercial offices in North Asia.
