FRENCH shipping line CMA CGM will take slots on the "US Gulf Africa Line" (GAL) breakbulk-container service operated by Hamburg's MACS Maritime Carrier to offer a direct US-South Africa service, Khulu from May 1.

CMA CGM will only participate in the Houston-Namibia-South Africa- Mozambique leg, covering Walvis Bay, Cape Town, Durban, Richards Bay and Maputo, reported Alphaliner.

The carrier has up until now participated in the US-South Africa trade only by transhipment.
