About Zhao Nan

Zhao Nan is the director of Port Development Department, Shanghai International Shipping Institute. Her research area is closely related to port management. Since 2010, she has been in charge of compiling and releasing Global Port Development Report on monthly, quarterly and annual basis. The report mainly covers port operation & management, port technology, port construction and so on, shedding light not only on major global port development, but also Chinese ports development with abundant data and information.  With increasingly close relations among port, city and environment, Global Port Development Report (annual report 2011 and 2012) put more emphasis on their interactive development. Besides, the report releases Global Port Comprehensive Development Index annually to analyze port development in terms of port production, port operation & management, sustainable development and port infrastructure. Since its inception, the report is frequently cited by several medias and journals at home and abroad, including CCTV, Bloomberg News, Ta Kung Pao, Port Strategy, the Exporter Magazine, The Economic Times, Trans Reporter, JOC, JCtrans, Seanews, Transportweekly, etc.

Zhao Nan has published more than 20 academic articles, and dedicated to almost 10 research projects. She focuses on the research in the strategy, planning and feasibility of Chinese port development, including Terminal Operation Analysis Report of China Shipping Terminal Development Co., Feasibility Analysis of the Second Phase Construction of Jiangyin Bonded Logistic Center, Research in the Specialized System of Salvage System by Ministry of Transport, Resource Integration Research of China’s Coastal Ports, Feasible Analysis on the Development of Yangshan Port as a transshipment hub within the Territory but Outside of Custom, Anqing Port Development Strategy, Concept and Method to Promote the Development of Shanghai Shipping Consulting Industry, Policy Research on Cargo Traffic of Shipping Center, Feasible Analysis of Jiangyin Bonded Logistic Center Construction, Guangzhou Seaport Economy Development Plan, A Study of the Fourth Generation Ports and Their Management Pattern, etc. In 2012, she participated in cooperative research projects of Global Port Comprehensive Development Index and Sustainable Development of Port and City between Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) and Erasmus SmartPort Rotterdam (ESPR).
