Dr. Shmuel (Sam) Yahalom holds a Ph.D., MA and BA in Economics. He is a distinguished professor and the director of Economics and Transportation Research Centre of SUNY Maritime College. He has been appointed as a professor of Economics and Transportation since 1978. His research and teaching has been in economics of transportation, shipping, port and terminal management. Dr. Yahalom has organized researches on many subjects, some of which were produced through collaboration with colleges from Taiwan and Mainland China. He has also published numerous papers and articles on shipping, port and maritime subjects. Dr. Yahalom, together with a research team, recently completed researches on the impacts of the maritime support services on the Port of New York, many research achievements have been adopted by the New York City Governing Council. Many agencies benefited from his research such as: the Port Authority of NY & NJ, New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, New York State Department of Transportation, New York City Department of Transportation, New Jersey Department of Transportation, New York Container Terminal, and others.
