Cheng Zekun, chief engineer of CCCC Third Harbor Consultants Co., Ltd., PhD and professor-level senior engineer. As chief engineer or chief designer, Cheng has led the design of tens of influential port projects at home and abroad, including the Phase I-III project of Yangshan Deepwater Port, the world’s first ultra-large container port built on a reef terrain in open waters, Phase III and its extension project of Yantian International Container Terminals, one of the busiest container ports in the world, and the 300,000-ton-class ore terminal of Baosteel Majishan Port, the world’s largest water-water port of transshipment for ore. As a key member of these projects, Cheng has contributed tremendous economic and social benefits to enterprises. He has also presided over the compilation of five technical specifications for shipping industry, achieved 13 patents, published more than 40 technical papers, and won 25 provincial and ministerial-level awards for science and technology progress, consulting, design and excellent paper, including the Jeme Tien Yow Civil Engineering Prize.
