The Chang’an China-European cargo train from Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park (ITL) has operated every Saturday since May 17, and on June 15, 11 additional cargo trains started, itl.gov.cn reported on June 18.
Most of the cargo trains carry petroleum equipment, light industrial products and protective supplies for workers, according to Zhang Chaoyang, deputy director of the head office of the ITL management committee’s inland port operation.
The new “international inland port” function enables Xi’an, an inland city, to have coastal service, thus forming a giant logistics pattern that connects China with the rest of the world, said Li Xiang, secretary of the ITL disciplinary committee.
Thanks to this efficient pattern, medicine made in the Northwest Modern Medical Logistics Center, which belongs to the Shaanxi Pharmaceutical Group, can be delivered to other places in Shaanxi in a short period of time via highway transportation.
Recently, the structure of seven buildings of the Midwest Commodity Trade Center in ITL was almost finished. After completion, the center will bring in brokerage, banks, insurance and auctions, providing various trade functions like financing and spot trading, according to Li Xin, HR and Administration manager of the center.
