APL Logistics hires two veteran intermodal experts
Date:2010-11-26 Readers:

Supply chain services provider APL Logistics said today it has hired two veteran intermodal experts to strengthen land transport capabilities.
The company named Jerry Plummer, formerly of CH Robinson, as its new head of Business Development for Highway Services. Mike Deegan of Schneider National becomes General Manager of the unit. The pair joins a logistics group that is gearing up for significant growth in U.S. intermodal transport of containerized cargo and highway truckload shipments.
“With the help of these gentlemen we will be offering an extended array of services reaching well beyond our traditional Intermodal and Freight Management capabilities,” said Dave Howland, Vice President of APL Logistics’ Land Transport Services in Phoenix. “We currently offer Team, Solo, Dedicated and Regional Highway services, and we will also be expanding into specialized services with a much larger carrier base and geographic coverage than ever before.”
Plummer will lead APL Logistics’ sales effort in Highway Services. He’ll also have overall commercial responsibility for Land Transport services in the Pacific Northwest. Those services include both truck and rail cargo transportation. Plummer is an industry veteran who worked for the Western Pacific Railroad and RISS Intermodal before joining CH Robinson.
Deegan will manage APL Logistics’ stable of highway motor carriers and oversee Highway Services operations. He previously worked for APL Logistics before joining Schneider National.
Plummer will be based at APL Logistics’ Americas Headquarters in Phoenix. Deegan will be based in Chicago.
