DB Schenker has formed a joint venture with Shenyang Jinbei Automotive Company in northeast China, branded Schenker Jinbei Logistics (Shenyang) Co. Ltd, to drive forwards its automotive business.
The JV will build a 45,000-square metre logistics centre in the Tiexi district of Shenyang. It is scheduled to open in early 2016.
The logistics company - a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG - said the facility is located near a number of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their first- and second-tier suppliers, reported Lloyd's Loading List.
Jinbei Automotive is also investing in an automotive supplier park close to the BMW-Brilliance Automotive production plant.
Schenker Asia Pacific director Jochen Thewes said the joint venture was an important milestone towards the company's objective to become China's leading logistics service provider.
