Drive India Enterprise Solutions, a division of India’s largest multinational company, the Tata Group, has announced it will begin offering logistics services next year in a move to capture a share of the US$1.5 trillion of infrastructure projects planned for India.
The company plans to be the number one domestic logistics provider by 2014-15, Ajay Chopra, DIESL’s chief executive, told the Economic Times.
Without the need to purchase new assets for the project logistics venture, the company is well positioned to stake a share of impending project business, which it estimates at US$90 billion with an annual growth rate of 18 percent.
The Tata Group includes Tata Steel, ranked fifth in the world for steel production and Tata Power, India’s largest private sector power provider.
