Maersk Line, the world's biggest container shipping company will levy a US$400 per TEU rate increase from ports in Asia to northern Europe from February 1.

Rates on the route, the world's busiest for container shipping, jumped 24.6 percent to US$1,256 per TEU last week, Reuters reported, adding that the Danish shipping company controls one fifth of all containers going from Asia to Europe.
