Mighty Maersk Line is to add a direct southbound call at Adelaide to the southeast Asia-Australia-Northeast Asia segment of the Asia-Australia service in April.

The service is partly operated, jointly, with Mediterranean Shipping Company, branded Boomerang by Maersk Line and New Wallaby by MSC.

MSC does not participate on the southbound segment from southeast Asia to Australia, for which the carrier uses its Capricorn standalone service instead, reported Alphaliner.

The amended rotation of the SE Asia-Australia-NE Asia segment is: Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Fremantle, Adelaide (new call), Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Yokohama, Osaka, Busan, Qingdao, Shanghai-Yangshan and Ningbo.

On its side, MSC currently covers Adelaide with its Capricorn service.

The Boomerang/New Wallaby is operated by a fleet of 11 vessels, ranging in size from 4,300-4,800 TEU, of which 10 are provided by Maersk and one by MSC.
