IMO appears to be taking the imperative of getting young people into shipping quite literally as pupils from local and international schools paid a visit to its London headquarters for World Maritime Day.
In-keeping with the World Maritime Day theme of "Maritime Education and Training", the students learned about various types of ships, the cargoes they carry, regulations for ships and a range of careers in the maritime world, and took part in interactive ship simulations, leaving them more with greater knowledge of the industry than the majority of British adults.
