The world's second-largest crane ship, the 117,812-gross ton Saipem 7000 has arrived from Norway and has docked at Eemshaven, the Netherlands, where it will remain until the end of the year under the agency of Marico.

Over the next few months, Marico, which was acquired by Broekman Logistics last year, will actively contribute to the various jobs that will be conducted on the ship.

The Saipem 7000 is owned by the Italian firm Saipem SpA and was built in Trieste, between 1985 and 1987. The crane shift has a lift capacity of 2 x 7,000 tonnes and features a hotel and workshop facilities on board. It was built to lift large oil production platforms.

The vessel operates at sea around the globe and is in high demand for large projects by various oil companies. But the vessel's main task involves heavy lifting for oil and gas platforms in the North Sea.
