Danish shipping giant Maersk Line has announced a new direct service with short transit time from west coast of South America to Japan for dry and reefer cargo, reports New York' s Maritime Professional.

"In our efforts to provide customers with fast connections from west coast South America to Japan, we now offer a new short transit time from San Antonio and San Vicente in Chile to Yokohama for dry and reefer cargo," said the Maersk statement.

This service will also offer improved service time from Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru while Maersk's AC2 loop, between Asia and western Mexico, Panama and Colombia upgrades to larger vessels.

The service has now added four 13,102-TEU vessels to replace three 9,640-TEU ships and one 11,294-TEUer.
