Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co Ltd (PACTL) is about to set a new record for freight volumes in 2015, the company announced.

It has achieved tonnage growth of 6.82 per cent year on year, having processed 1,458,263 tonnes of freight overall during the first eleven months of 2015, handling 1.5 million tonnes of cargo for the very first time in 2014.

PACTL's domestic cargo volume grew by 8.47 per cent year-on-year to 94,707 tonnes during the first eleven months of 2015, while its international cargo volumes rose by 6.71 per cent to 1,363,556 tonnes.

Imports increased by 9.08 per cent to 590,669 tonnes, while exports grew by 5.33 per cent to 867,594 tonnes.

"Even though growth rates have been stronger in the past, I can still see a positive trend in our business and this will almost certainly enable us to set another record for freight volumes in 2015," said PACTL vice president Lutz Grzegorz.
