Iran has launched yet another shipping line, this time with its neighboring Oman.

The country has been very busy with renewing transportation links following the lifting of economic sanctions earlier this year with countries now standing in line to renew economic and energy ties with Tehran.

According to Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO), the direct shipping line connects Iran’s Shahid Rajaee and the Omani port of Sohar and will be operated by Khedri Jahan Darya Company for one year. The service was put into operation on February 4 and will first run once in two weeks, with the option to become more frequent in the second half of 2016.

TPO said that the shipping route would employ 96TEU ships that will transport perishable goods and agricultural products.

Iran is also preparing for a comeback of its shipping line IRISL to Europe before the end of this month, with HDS Lines ready to launch a full container service connecting Iran with Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.

The new service is expected to start from Bandar Abbas, with calls initially limited to a fairly small number of North European ports (tentatively Antwerp and Hamburg), before being extended to other ports at a later stage, with ships of up to 6,500 teu to be deployed.

Just last month, IRISL also established a new shipping route to China, the first shipping service to link Middle East and Beibu Gulf.
