Mayor Yang Xiong on Saturday urged Shanghai officials to increase departmental coordination and take innovative measures to develop the Shanghai Free Trade Zone.
He said officials should take bold steps in reforms, change the role of government through administrative innovations, and introduce successful practices in the free trade zone to other parts of the city.
The mayor said that administrative reform and innovations should focus on bringing convenience to companies and lowering their operating costs. The FTZ should improve on its negative list to ensure a fair and transparent market for all players.
The FTZ should provide services in one-stop-shop style and practice cargo supervision by type to reduce costs of companies. It should aid the city's effort to become an international financial center by implementing the 40 Measures of Financial reform, Yang said.
