Date:2016-03-22 Readers:

When a train pulled into the new 1-billion-yuan ($ 154 million) freight transport center in the city of Baotou, Inner Mongolia, it signaled a new era of traffic for the region thanks to its cooperation with the city of Tianjin's port, the Caofeidian dry port in Hebei province, the China Minmetals Co, and ther companies.

Work on the center, which covers a 1,840-hectare area in the city's Jiuyuan district, began in August 2014. It contains eight freight lines, two platforms, one higher platform, a 291,000-square-meter warehouse and has production, administration, trade and living areas.

The center is expected to handle Baotou's steel, metal minerals, polyvinyl chloride and aluminum ingot traffic, with an annual traffic volume of 16.5 million tons, and to become the most modern logistics hub in the region.
