Mayor Yang Xiong urged Shanghai officials to do more in institutional reform and innovation and to sum up the experiences of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone which will turn three years old in September.
At a meeting on Wednesday, Yang said officials of the Shanghai FTZ Administration should identify new tasks and introduce more reform policies that can be copied outside the FTZ.
He said government officials should take a problem-oriented approach in carrying out reforms and innovation and create a better business environment according to international standards.
The mayor stressed the role of the negative list in supervising foreign investment and trade and the need to further open up the financial sector. The government departments should take bold steps in reform and innovation, he added.
Shen Xiaoming, Party secretary of Pudong New Area, attended the meeting.
