Xi’an officials inspect major projects in logistics park
Date:2016-09-23 Readers:

Xi’an Deputy Mayor Nie Zhongqiu visited the Xi’an International Trade and Logistics Park on Sept 22 to learn about its investment structure, construction plans and supporting facilities.

The delegation inspected the Midwest Inland Port Financial Town, Xi’an Railway Container Center and Xi’an Sports Center, among other facilities.

During a symposium attended by the park’s officials, Yang Mingrui, director of the park’s management committee, outlined the economic development in the region.

According to Yang, the park’s fixed asset investment registered 11.8 billion yuan ($1.8 billion) from January to August, a year-on-year growth of 10.5 percent. Foreign investment in the park surpassed $50 million during the same period, up by 79.19 percent.

The number of start-ups in the park has mushroomed this year. By the end of August, 1017 companies had registered there, up 75.26 percent compared to last year.

Nie learned that the frequency of freight trains traveling to and from Almaty in Kazakhstan each week has been increased to three. Two train routes connecting the zone with Warsaw and Hamburg were also recently launched. The routes are expected to build new logistics channels that are safe, efficient and economical.

A string of issues such as affordable housing provision, renovation of shanty areas and the transportation outside of the Xi’an Sports Center were also discussed during the symposium with the zone’s officials. Nie emphasized accountability and urged relevant departments to closely cooperate with one another with the construction of major projects.

Hansong, secretary of the Party working committee of the park, appreciated Nie’s inspection and said that the park will fulfill its responsibility in promoting investment and ensuring sound economic development in Xi’an.
