November 2 2016 saw the visit of Mario Cordero, Chairman Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) and Tyler J. Wood, FMC General Counsel to Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI).

Mr. Cordero was accompanied by Marc Cook, Economic Section Consul US Consulate General Shanghai and Ada Rong, economic specialist US Consulate General Shanghai. They were warmly received by SISI staff headed by Prof. Zhen Hong, Secretary General SISI.

Prof. Zhen began with a brief review of a variety of cooperation and exchanges between FMC and SISI as well as SISI’s latest research work. The two sides later had a candid discussion about issues of mutual interest such as shipping lines’ alliance, cabotage, port operation and management model and automated terminals. Both sides expressed willingness to further enhance ties in the future and looked forward to third session of global maritime summit participated by China, US and Europe.
