Pingtan is expected to begin the construction of an international marine industry park in Aoqian Taiwan-style Town in Dec, reported Pingtan Times.

The 40,000-square-meter park consists of a seven-story cold storage, a three-story aquatic products processing workshop and a building to store accessory equipment. In addition, auxiliary facilities including a distribution center, warehouse, garage and office buildings shall also be established.

It is has been stated that the cold storage facility to be built will have a storage capacity of 50,000 tons, its annual storage volume estimated to reach almost 500,000 tons. After the marine industry park is completed, it will be able to freeze and intensively process about 3.4 tons of aquatic products every year.

The park shall drive further development of the aquatic products processing industry in Pingtan. In light of its geographical and transportation advantages, the park shall also promote the aquatic products trade with neighboring countries and regions including Taiwan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), making contributions to the development of the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone.
