Pudong New Area and China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone began to test a new company name registration system on Sunday. Names not on the negative list can be used for company registrations.

Authorities have drawn a long list of expired or unused names for new companies to choose. These names have already been checked for validity. As soon as a name is picked, the registration process will be completed on the same day the application is submitted.

Pudong New Area and Shanghai FTZ all have online service platforms to help applicants select a company name, saving them the trouble of preparing a long list of backup names in case their most desired names were already taken by others.

The online service platforms will also alert applicants if they type in a copyrighted name and send a confirmation message to the applicant’s mobile phone after the registration is completed.
