Shanghai Customs has carried out a series of innovative measures to facilitate foreign trade since the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone was established more than three years ago.
Flextronics, the world’s second largest electronics manufacturing services, has a repair center in Waigaoqiao Area. After the pilot zone improved the supervision system on entry repair and re-manufacturing industry, the company’s custom clearance time has been cut from two days to one day, which also lowered warehouse costs.
Shanghai Customs and Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau have reorganized and streamlined reviewing, registry and follow-up supervisions on repair businesses to boost upgrades in processing industry.
The waiting time for approval of bio-medicine companies’ sample imports of animal origin has also been reduced from one month to three to five working days. The valid span of sample permits has been expanded from six months to one year. Now this policy has been applied to all pharmaceutical companies in Shanghai.
In this June, the pilot zone received the first 3C certificate for parallel automobile import to enable affordable imported vehicles to average domestic consumers.
Shanghai Customs also offered favorable policies to artwork imports. An overseas new edition books exhibition, a copyright trading fair and the biggest Chinese culture authorization fair have been held following the launch of the policies.
