Mayor Ying Yong met Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenayan Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia in Shanghai on Wednesday. The prince is the chairman of SABIC, the country's largest company.
On the same day, he also had separate meetings with Maurice Greenberg, chairman and CEO of US financial services firm C.V. Starr & Co Inc, and Jerry Speyer, chairman of US commercial real estate company Tishman Speyer.
Ying told the guests that Shanghai is continuing reforms in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and building itself into an international center of finance, economy, trade and shipping by 2020 and into a global innovation center by 2030.
He welcomed the Saudi and American companies to invest in Shanghai.
The foreign visitors said China's economy is developing steadily despite a global economic slowdown. Shanghai's influence is growing every day. They hope to enhance cooperation with Shanghai.
