China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone has opened a customs clearance center in Zhangjiang area for the convenience of companies in medicine and computer chip imports and exports.
Located in Zhangjiang International Innovation Center, the clearance facility is 12,000 square meters in size with a reception hall, an inspection area and a warehouse.
Shanghai Customs and the Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau have workers performing clearance procedures there. The new center can cut clearance time from two or three days to less than one day.
Most pharmaceutical companies in Zhangjiang import time-sensitive materials. Any delay may result in their losses in highly-competitive international markets, officials said.
Zhangjiang and Jinqiao sub-zones have introduced innovative clearance procedures, benefitting more than 300 companies.
