Urumqi to build first cross-border e-commerce service center
Date:2018-02-02 Readers:

Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, plans to build a cross-border e-commerce public service center in the Urumqi Free Trade Zone, the first one in the region.

The service center is expected to be operational in the first half of this year to promote transformation and upgrading of foreign trade.

According to the Urumqi Free Trade Zone, the service center should be a combination of online platform and offline industrial park.

Xinjiang E-Port is now operational and has access to Urumqi's municipal-level cross-border e-commerce public service center, which has been open since 2017.

The new center will mainly provide customs clearance service for B2B and B2C e-commerce companies and logistic companies.

Toutunhe district has set up an office to manage the development of the e-commerce industry and has been approved to build an international e-commerce industrial park. The district has attracted over 200 e-commerce companies.

As an important offline platform for cross-border e-commerce companies, the Urumqi Free Trade Zone includes a great many companies and promotes timely shipping of goods in China-Europe trains.

The cloud computing base for the Silk Road Economic Belt is currently under construction in Toutunhe district and will also serve cross-border e-commerce companies.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will build five cross-border e-commerce comprehensive service platforms and five cross-border e-commerce demonstration bases, and cultivate 10 domestic cross-border e-commerce brands.
