FedEx ups capacity from HK to Paris with 777F deployment
Date:2010-12-23 Readers:
FedEx Express has increased the capacity on its Hong Kong to Paris, France trade route by deploying a Boeing 777 Freighter (777F) to service the direct connection. The 777F offers a payload improvement of 50,000 pounds per week compared to the MD-11 previously used.
"The European Union is Hong Kong's second-largest trading partner and we see an upwards trend on the value of goods exported to the region," said Anthony Leung, managing director, FedEx Express Hong Kong and Macau, in a company statement. "The 777F gives FedEx customers in Hong Kong greater access to Europe as the economy gradually recovers."
FedEx launched its direct service from Hong Kong to its European hub at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris in April 2010. The service enables the company to provide customers overnight delivery from Hong Kong to key cities in major European markets, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
With the deployment of the 777F on the Hong Kong-Paris service, FedEx has now put into operation five 777F services from Asia. The first 777F service was introduced in January connecting Shanghai with Memphis. The Hong Kong-Memphis 777F service was launched in late March, followed by Singapore-Osaka-Memphis in July and Shenzhen-Memphis in November.
