S'pore dredging at Temasek Fairway and Sultan Shoal Lighthouse

THE Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore as announced to all mariners operating in Temasek Fairway from April 20 until October 18 that care must be take around dredging work taking place in the area.

There will similar work done at the same time around the Sultan Shoal Lighthouse.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to keep well clear, maintain a proper lookout, proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution, maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22(Jurong Control) and communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Dredging works will be carried out by grab dredger, supported by hopper barges and pusher tugs. The grab dredger will be held in position by spuds-systems within the working area.

A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.

Work will be conducted 24/7. These craft will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

Similar dredging will conducted off Sultan Shoal Lighthouse. The work has been extended and the working area has been revised.

This work will be conducted 24/7 from April 21 to October 19 with a greater number of vessels that will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

They will included a grab dredger, supported by hopper barges and pusher tugs.

The safety zone is a circular area of 250 metres radius centred on the dredger. A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.
