Yantai, a coastal city in East China's
Shandong province, signed an agreement with Britain's Coventry
University to establish the Coventry University (Yantai) Research
Institute on May 12.
According to the agreement, the two
sides will share industrial experiences in the field of autos and ships,
including yachts, and apply virtual reality technology to a high-tech
transport planning center.
They will also cooperate in talent
cultivation and science and technology achievement transformation to
serve the research institute.
The institute plans to set up a core
team of 30-50 talents who are specialized in augmented reality (AR),
virtual reality (VR) and immersive techniques and can apply them to the
fields of new energy vehicle design, traffic simulation and control, and
automobile engineering.
The establishment of the research center
will be of great significance in promoting the VR industry development
in Yantai city and provide solid support to its industrial structure
upgrading.
Coventry University, a famous British
comprehensive university, ranks 12th in the Guardian university league
tables for 2018. Its featured major is automotive engineering and
design, in which it takes third place in the world.
