DHL, Shanghai Lingang to offer logistics services in Yangshan Port

    A PARTNERSHIP between DHL Global Forwarding (China), has been signed with state-owned Shanghai Lingang Free Trade Port Economic Development Co Ltd, a subsidiary of Shanghai Lingang Economic Development (Group) Co Ltd to support the local aerospace and heavy equipment manufacturing sectors.
According to the terms of the partnership, DHL and Shanghai Lingang Group will jointly develop supply chain solutions and logistics services for customers in the Yangshan Free Trade Port Area and Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area.
    "The location and development roadmap for Shanghai Lingang Group is an excellent fit with DHL's direction of providing integrated services to customers, particularly for fast growing Chinese companies in developing international business," said Steve Huang, chief executive officer, DHL Global Forwarding, China, in a company statement.
    Said Shanghai Lingang Economic Development chairman Liu Jiaping: "We will leverage DHL's logistics expertise and global capability to help realise our plans of establishing the Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area as a key logistics hub and distribution centre in Asia, combined with a strong industry base. It is a win-win solution for both parties."
    Based on Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area's industry focus, the partnership will focus on supporting customers from the aerospace and heavy equipment manufacturing sectors.
    The Shanghai Lingang Industrial Area also comprises an international logistics park and is integrated with the Yangshan Free Trade Port area. It is next to Shanghai Yangshan Deep Sea Port and is close to Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The area falls under the authority of the Shanghai Lingang Group, which oversees its construction, development, investment and ongoing operations.
