Cosco mega boxship delays Vietnam departure after vessel collision
Date:2019-08-29 Readers:

CHINA Cosco Shipping's 2011-built 14,000 TEU containership CSCL Jupiter has delayed its scheduled departure from Vietnam following a collision with another vessel.

According to a notice Cosco sent to clients, the CSCL Jupiter was involved in a collision with another ship when it was about to sail out of Cai Mep International Terminal near Ho Chi Minh City on August 22. The boxship suffered hull damages, and there were no injuries, cargo damage and pollution reported.

The ship is expected to receive repair service at Cai Mep and the sailing schedule will be delayed for about a week. Cosco said it is making efforts to minimise the impact of the incident, reports Singapore's Splash247.

The vessel's next destination is Port Klang in Malaysia, and latest AIS information shows the ship is still moored at Cai Mep.
