Iranian oil tanker hit by two missiles near Saudi port
Date:2019-10-11 Readers:

TEHRAN - An oil tanker passing through the Red Sea near Saudi Arabia was damaged after being hit by two missiles, Iranian media reported on Friday.

The oil tanker, named the SABITY, belongs to National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC).

The National Iranian Tanker Company said the Iranian oil tanker was hit by two separate missiles 60 miles (100 km) from the Saudi port city of Jeddah, which has resulted in an oil leak into the Red Sea.

The explosions were "probably caused by missile strikes," the state-owned company said in a statement.

All the ship's staff members are safe and the ship is stable, according to the company.

The situation is under control and an investigation is underway.
