ACI's Arctic Shipping Summit is in Montreal from March 11-12

THE ACI is hosting its Arctic Shipping Summit in Montreal, Canada on March 11 and 12. The organisers said that the first session on day one of the conference will focus on "Arctic Navigation Experiences and Best Practice."
 

The speakers will also give insights on best practices in Arctic waters to "maximising efficiency and reducing costs of ship management for Arctic operations, voyage planning, safety and communication challenge aspects."

Another key topic is: "Overcoming weather hazards for shipping unique to the Arctic."

The session speakers include: Fednav Arctic operations and projects' senior fleet operator Sarah Norgaard; and University of Victoria professor David Atkinson.

Other key topics are: Arctic Navigation Experiences and Best Practice; Arctic Infrastructure: Current Development and Investment; Cooperation with Indigenous Communities; New Developments in Communication Systems; and Information Technology and Training Requirements.

In addition: Autonomous Vessels: Arctic Advancement; What's Next for the Polar Code? Emerging Markets and Sea Routes; Arctic Project Developments; Arctic Cruise Market Growth: Seizing Opportunities and Mitigating Risks; and Minimizing Ecological Impact of Arctic Shipping.

Attendees will be national coastguards, Arctic government officials; shipping companies, cruise companies, LNG projects, lawyers, P&I Clubs, arctic researchers, lecturers, technology providers, and consultants.
