Portugal's Sines terminal to expand from 2.3 million to 4.1 million TEU
Date:2020-08-12 Readers:
EXPANSION of Portugal's Sines Container Terminal (Terminal XXI) to increase annual capacity from 2.3 million to 4.1 million TEU by extending the quay 204 metres. is now underway, reports London's Container Management.

Representing an investment of EUR16.5 million (US$19 million), the concessionaire PSA Sines will be able to utilise a 1,150-metre quay once the first phase is completed.

In its final configuration, the terminal will offer a 1,750-metre quay, with the investment reinforcing its capacity to receive several mega vessels simultaneously on the main international maritime routes.

In October 2019, the Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) and PSA Sines signed an amendment to the concession contract that allows new investments to be made regarding the expansion of the quay and the resizing and modernising the terminal.
