Royal Navy commandos seized tanker, 7 Nigerian migrants held
Date:2020-11-02 Readers:
THE Royal Navy's Special Boat Service (SBS) commandos ended a 10-hour standoff after seven Nigerian stowaways attempted to seize the Liberia-flagged crude oil tanker Nave Andromeda off the Isle of Wight off England's southern coast.

The vessel, the 74,999-dwt Nave Andromeda, attracted attention after failing to dock as expected at Southampton, reported BBC News.

Hampshire police said that seven men were arrested "on suspicion of seizing or exercising control of a ship by use of threats or force".

The Southampton-bound ship left Lagos on October 5 with 22 crew. Ship manager Navios Tanker Management said the crew was safe and sustained no injuries.
