GSBN and Tradelens vie to dominate digitisation of world shipping
Date:2021-03-24 Readers:
THE battle for the container shipping block chain platforms heats up with GSBN (Global Shipping Business Network) rivalling a similar outfit called Tradelens, says Copenhagen's Sea Intelligence Consulting.

"Both platforms aim to facilitate information sharing and collaboration across the supply chain. Both state that they will be neutral platforms," said Sea Intelligence Consulting CEO Lars Jensen.

Looking at the stated objectives for the platforms they are also almost identical, he said in a LinkedIn commentary.

Tradelens, backed by Maersk, CMA-CGM, MSC, Seaboard, SPIL and Zim, seeks to connect the ecosystem, foster collaboration and trust, drive information sharing and spur innovation.

GSBN, backed by Cosco, Hapag-Lloyd, Hutchison Ports, OOCL, SPG Qingdao Port, PSA International and Shanghai International Port Groups seeks to facilitate better digital connection and collaboration, improve visibility and create a data utility platform to unlock the value of digital transformation.
