Panama Canal postpones transit reservation fee to June 1
Date:2021-04-19 Readers:
THE Panama Canal is postponing the future transit reservation fees from April 15 to June 1, after talking with customers and shipping associations, reports Hellenic Shipping News Worldwide.

The postponement will allow the industry more time to prepare for the new booking fees. The transit reservation system is an optional service that gives customers the possibility to transit on a specific date through the payment of an additional fee.

"The Panama Canal values its customers' input, as it looks for ways to bring value and improve our service on a constant basis. We always take into account how the changes we make may affect our customers and will work alongside them to ensure that their feedback is heard, and our goals are aligned," said canal administrator Ricaurte Vasquez Morales.

The Panama Canal hopes to improve the quality of its service and adapt to an ever-changing market, including options that offer better ways to schedule transits.
