THE 1,581-TEU Indian-flagged SSL Ganga lost a seaman overboard, three other crew were injured when a wave struck on May 15 in Arabian Sea off Mangalore.

The ship left Mangalore that day bound for Hazira, and encountered rough weather, brought on by cyclone Tauktau, reported Kiev's Maritime Bulletin, which specialises in marine casualties.

Four seamen were on deck duties when a rogue wave struck, sending one man overboard, injuring three others. The ship returned to Mangalore in the morning May 16 and the injured men were taken to hospital.

The ship searched lost man for several hours, before turning back. The ship is managed by Sheyas Shipping & Logistics (SSL).
